Places to Visit

Pratapgarh Fort
This is 24 km from Mahabaleshwar. Morepant Trimbak Pingale at the Command Shivaji built the fort. It was an era that the mighty General of Bijapur; Afzal Khan was killed by the great Maratha warier Chatrapati Shivaji Raje. The Bhavani Temple and Tomb of Afzal Khan can be visited. Of another major tourist attaractions at Pratapgadh is the Statue of the great warier unveiled by Pandit Nehru unveil the Shivaji Statue in 1957.

Makarndgad
Known as the saddle back since it resembles the look of a saddle is a gigantic fort standing amidts the Koyna Valley.It is foretold that the Pandawas dwelt here during their 14 years of exile and as told in history this fort was also under the auspices of Shreemant Chatrapati Shivaji Raje.The fort has a few remanences of the Pandaw period on the fort with a temple dedicated to lord Shiva.

Tapola
Located 29 km from Mahabaleshwar, coined as Mini Kashmir is a major tourist attaraction due to the water sports facility on the back waters of the shivsagar lake the backwater's of the Koyana dam. It is the confluence of three rivers the Koyana the Solashi and Kandhati.A major picnic and water sporting destination down the serpentine tapola ghat past many other places of tourist interest such as the Babington point, Northcote point, Helen's Point, Robbers Cave, and Panchgani point can be visited with the assistance of a local guide.

Mandhar Devi
Known as the guardian deity of many devotees from in and outside Maharashtra known, as Kalubai Mandhar Devi is 18 km from Wai.This place is also a very good picnic spot situated on the hilly rock on the ranges of Sahyadries gives an other side view of Kamalgadh, Mahabaleshwar, and Panchgani with Raireshwar on the back side.
